Sweet Temptations: A Journey into Veruca Salt's World

Hey there, fellow chocolate enthusiasts! Rose here, ready to spill the cocoa beans on what it's like to step into the mischievous shoes of Veruca Salt in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Join me as I unwrap the delectable delights of stage preparation, favourite moments, and a sprinkle of sweet surprises!

First things first – what's the most exciting part of bringing this iconic tale to life on stage? For me, it's all about creating the irresistible allure of the chocolate factory, especially the tantalizing chocolate room! Whether I'm on stage or behind the scenes, the magic of the factory surrounds us, making every moment feel like a scrumdiddlyumptious adventure. Plus, having my dad play my on-stage dad adds an extra layer of sweetness to the experience!

Now, onto the star of the show – Veruca Salt. What drew me to this role, you ask? Well, let's just say that Veruca's over-the-top, bratty persona spoke to my inner mischief-maker. Playing her allows me to unleash my inner diva and have a blast while doing it!

But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. Alongside my role as Veruca, I also juggle ensemble duties and the occasional stint as an Oompa Loompa – talk about a triple chocolate swirl of responsibilities! And let's not forget the challenge of mastering a Russian accent for Veruca, which has definitely kept me on my toes.

Now, onto the juicy bits – my favourite scenes in the show. From the sass-filled entrance singing "When Veruca Says" to the hilariously nutty demise in "Veruca's Nutcracker Suite," every moment on stage is a whirlwind of laughter and excitement. There's just something about being squished by squirrels that tickles my funny bone!

As a cast member, my hope is that the audience leaves the theatre with a belly full of laughter and a heart bursting with joy. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is more than just a story – it's a journey into the fantastical world of imagination, where dreams come to life and anything is possible.

Now, let's talk chocolate – my ultimate weakness! While I adore Cadbury Creations for its burst of jellybeans and popping candy, my dream chocolate bar would be a chewy chocolate brownie covered in edible glitter. Talk about a feast fit for a queen – or should I say, a bratty princess like Veruca!

Before I take my final bow, let me share a little secret with you. When I'm not commanding the stage as Veruca, I love to whip up culinary delights in the kitchen. From savoury dishes to sweet treats, cooking is my passion, and I love nothing more than sharing it with my family.

So, why should you snag a golden ticket to CAODS Lincoln May's production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"? Simple – because it's a labour of love, crafted with care and dedication by a team of talented individuals. Trust me, folks – this show is guaranteed to satisfy your cravings for fun, laughter, and pure theatrical magic.

See you at the chocolate factory!

Warm regards,

Rose (aka Veruca Salt)
