We are delighted to welcome you to our CAODS choir!  We are led by Musical Director Kev Richardson who was MD for School of Rock Elf and will be again for our May 2024 production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

If you are brand new to our choir, I hope you decide to come along and give us a try.

There is no need to audition, everyone over 16 is invited to join in.  If you’re not a singer, hopefully being part of a choir will give you more confidence and help improve your singing. If you are a singer, it will be great fun to sing a range of different types of music and receive expert tuition from Kev. We know that not everyone can commit to join a full CAODS production or some of the other choirs that require payment by month or by term, so it will be a way of joining in without having to make a long-term commitment.

Rehearsals are weekly on a Tuesday, but there’s no obligation to come to every rehearsal, you can come along whenever you want to. Everyone joining the choir would need to become a CAODS member with the associated annual fee and pay the weekly subscription when you attend.

REHEARSALS: Tuesday evening

TIME: 7pm to 9.30pm
(with 30 min break for tea/coffee/tuck shop and social time)

LOCATION: Robert Hardy Building, Bishop Grosseteste University, Longdales Rd, Lincoln LN1 3DY (free parking available on site)

WEEKLY SUBSCRIPTION: £5

MEMBERSHIP: £30 per calendar year (£25 concessions, over 60’s). Fees may increase
annually – annual fees are payable at your second rehearsal (come along to your first one
before you decide to commit)

COMMITMENT: none, once you’ve paid your annual membership you can attend
as many or few rehearsals as you like, only pay your £5 when you attend.

BENEFIT: Members receive free access to our courses and workshops at a discounted rate, and access to our own Benefits Platform (https://www.benefitscloud.co.uk/)

We’re working on a repertoire of songs that we will be able to use in performances throughout the year, so there’s lots of exciting music to get your teeth stuck into!  Taking part in potential performances are entirely optional, there’s no requirement other than coming along when you can to enjoying singing as part of a group.  Don’t forget you only have to pay your £5 weekly subscription on the weeks you attend rehearsal.

Keep an eye out on our Events page on our website for dates of our rehearsals, but all information will be emailed to you regularly if you join us. We also have 2 great social Facebook groups, one just for CAODS Choir members, and our CAODS Green Room Group which is open to all friends and family of CAODS.

You will be sent a link for all the rehearsal materials, which will be updated as new songs get added to our repertoire.

Kev’s idea is to bring both easy and difficult pieces to the choir - he’d love for people to learn more about their voice as we go along and for everyone to improve as singers the more we do, so don’t think he’s going to be hitting you with insane harmonies every week; one week last year, Kev tested us to see how we would deal with a trickier arrangement than the week before – apparently we handled it well but I’ll let you make up your mind if/when you join us!
