Hey there, fellow dreamers and chocolate enthusiasts! Maisie here, thrilled to take you on a whirlwind adventure behind the scenes of our production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
As I step into the shoes of the sassy and diva-like Veruca Salt, I'm excited to share some insights into my experience and the magic that's being created on stage.
Let's dive right in, shall we? Playing Veruca Salt has been an absolute blast from the start. With her fiery attitude and over-the-top antics, she's a character that's impossible not to love – or love to hate! I was drawn to her from the moment I read the script, and diving into her larger-than-life personality has been a thrill.
But that's not all – I also play a role in the Ensemble, which has presented its own set of challenges and rewards. Learning double the amount of choreography was definitely tough at first, but it's been incredibly rewarding to see the show from different perspectives and bring a variety of characters to life on stage.
One of my favourite moments in the show is when the golden ticket winners and their parents first set eyes on the factory. It's a magical and exhilarating moment for both the actors and the audience, and I love being a part of it every night.
As for my involvement with CAODS, it's been a journey filled with unforgettable experiences. Since 2018, I've had the pleasure of performing in productions like "The King and I," "Evita," "School of Rock," and "Elf the Musical." And now, I'm beyond excited to be back on stage once again, bringing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" to life.
Local drama and theatre are incredibly important for the community, in my opinion. Not only does it bring people together, but it also provides a platform for creating lifelong friendships and memories. Personally, CAODS has played a huge role in my life, helping me gain confidence and providing me with opportunities I'm truly grateful for.
