As an adult member of the cast in our production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," I've had the incredible opportunity to wear many hats – from Grandma Josephine to Reporter, Oompa Loompa, and Townsperson. Let me take you on a whirlwind adventure through the highs and lows of my experience so far.
Auditioning for the ensemble, I never expected to be given a named role – let alone multiple! It's been an absolute honour to step into the spotlight and portray characters with their own unique quirks and personalities. It's a first for me, and I couldn't be more excited about it!
Navigating some of the show's challenging songs and dance routines has been quite the feat. Getting the lyrics to fit just right while adding in the choreography has definitely been 'interesting,' to say the least. But hey, it's all part of the fun and excitement of live theatre!
I truly hope that our audience enjoys the craziness of the story, the wacky songs, and the quirky characters inside Wonka's factory. It's a bit weird, but it's all in good fun – and that's what theatre is all about!
Now, let's talk chocolate. My ultimate weakness? Lindor – it's simply irresistible! There's nothing quite like biting into one of those deliciously smooth truffles and letting it melt in your mouth. Yum!
As for my favourite characters in the show, it's got to be the Oompa Loompas. I mean, who doesn't love those little guys? Their antics and mischief never fail to bring a smile to my face.
And speaking of favourites, "I've Got a Golden Ticket" is hands down my favourite song from the show. As one of the grandparents, we've had an absolute blast preparing this number, and I can't wait for the audience to see it!
Fun fact about me – I'm a teacher of the deaf, and I often get told off by my own children for signing to them at home. It's a habit I just can't seem to shake!
