Welcome

Thanks for stopping by the website of the The County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS). We are based in Lincoln, the county town of Lincolnshire in the UK and we produce major musical productions at the New Theatre Royal, Lincoln. Our last major production at the Theatre, was "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in October/November 2016 and we are looking forward to returning to the New Theatre Royal in 2017 for a variety show in May and another major musical production later in the year.

We're very proud of our rich history of producing a range of high quality musicals and drama performances for the people of Lincolnshire and beyond, and we're always on the look out for new and exciting individuals to join our society. It doesn't matter if you have a passion for singing and dancing, acting alone is more your thing, or you'd like to help out behind the scenes. We want to hear from you!

Looking Ahead To 2017

December 2016 is a fine time to be a member of CAODS. Last year, our production of “Sister Act” was an amazing success and won us the NODA Best Musical award for our region. This year, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” was a hit with our audiences and great fun for everyone involved.

At this time, no decision has been made regarding the main production for 2017 and we are currently awaiting confirmation of the dates to be made available to us. Details will be publicised in 2017 just as soon as we know.

As well as the main production, the theatre management have asked us to stage a variety show, and we are excited at the prospect! The variety show for 2017 will be entitled “Out of the Hat” and will be held at the New Theatre Royal on Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 May (2 performances on Saturday, 1 performance on Sunday).

Further information on our plans for 2017 will be added to our next production page as it becomes available.

2016 Production - "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"

Our most recent production, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", took place at the New Theatre Royal, Lincoln from the 26th October - 5th November 2016 and was one of the first amateur productions of the show in the UK. We were also delighted, given our long association with the venue, to present the first big production at the New Theatre Royal after an extensive renovation under new ownership in the summer of 2016.

The show took us to the French Riviera for high jinks and hilarity, featuring a delightfully jazzy score by David Yazbek (The Full Monty). For "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" CAODS were pleased to work with the production team of Janie Smith, David Williams, Adam Slepowronski and Neil Martin and would like to thank them, along with our whole cast and crew, for their hard work and dedication to the project.

CAODS 2016 Charity Campaign

Each year COADS choose a charity to support with various fund raising activities at our productions and social events. Throughout 2016 we will be supporting the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, a charity that was chosen by CAODS members at our 2016 AGM.

The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance are based at two offices; HQ in Bracebridge Heath in Lincolnshire, just down the road from RAF Waddington where the Helicopter and crew are, and Colwick in Nottingham. Every year they need to raise £2.1 million to keep the Air Ambulance flying. More information can be found on the website.
