Singin’ In The Rain – Main Auditions – Sunday 2nd June at Lincoln Theatre Royal.

9:00 – Arrival and registration
9:15 – Vocal warm-up
9:30 – Society Auditions – for all new members (i.e. anyone not a fully paid up member at the end of 2012). This is a singing audition, required to achieve acceptance into the society (this doesn’t guarantee you a place in the cast). Everyone will be asked to sing the finale version of ‘Singin’ In The Rain’.
10:30 – Dance re-cap session
10:45 – Dancing Auditions – for all wishing to be considered for the specialist dance group. There are two routines for this audition – ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ (tap version) and ‘All I Do Is Dream Of You’ (not tap).
11:30 – Dialogue Auditions – Zelda Zanders, Miss Dinsmore and Male Diction Coach
1:00 – 1:30 – Lunch Break
1:30 – Dialogue Auditions – Dora Bailey, R.F. Simpson and Roscoe Dexter
2:15 – Vocal warm-up
2:30 – Singing Audition – Production Tenor
2:45 – Dance recap session
3:00 – Auditions for Principal Characters – Lina Lamont, Cosmo Brown, Kathy Seldon and Don Lockwood

Please Note – these times are approximate and based on projected numbers of people taking part in each section. As such they are subject to change on the day. If you are arriving for a scheduled audition, we advise that you aim to be at the Theatre at least 15 minutes before the start time of that section.

Additional Notes

At this stage, there is no requirement for those wishing to be involved in chorus only to complete an audition (unless you are new to the Society, in which case you will need to do a Society Audition on 2nd June)

We are holding an extra dance workshop to learn and practice the audition routines this Sunday 26th May from 12.30-1.30pm at the Naval Club (Coulson Road, Lincoln, LN6 7BG). This has been arranged for those auditioning for the specialist dance group, Kathy, Don and Cosmo.

There will potentially be a call-back session for candidates auditioning for the four principal roles on Tuesday 4th June – 7.30-9.30pm. More information will be available about this at the conclusion of the auditions on the 2nd.

Singin’ In The Rain Auditions Part 1 – Sunday 19th May at Lincoln Theatre Royal.
This first date will be a preparation day for the main auditions being held on Sunday 2nd June and will include familiarisation sessions for singing, characterisation and dancing.

The timetable for the day is as follows:
1.00pm – Warm up (everyone including chorus), then songs from the show
1.45pm – Chorus dance
2.30pm – Acting workshop – characterisation & accents
3.00pm – Principal singing
4.00pm – Dance – Tap for principal dancers
5.00pm – Dancer team (speciaist dance chorus required for large production numbers)
Finish 5.30-6.00pm

Full details of cast requirements (including principals and chorus) and all audition materials will be available at this session.

All attendees will be asked to complete an audition application form, indicating the parts they wish to audition for. This will allow us to put together a timetable for the main audition day on the 2nd June, which will be published as soon as possible.

Grease the Musical · Next Stage Productions / CAODS

After prolonged negotiations between ourselves and the American rights holders, Theatrical Rights Worldwide, we are very pleased to announce that as of September 2013, rehearsals will begin for Grease the Musical.
We are also extremely delighted to inform you that this Production will be a joint collaboration between Next Stage Productions and CAODS.
The Production will take place between 4th – 12th April 2014 at Lincoln Theatre Royal.
Thanks to Ian Dickens of the Lincoln Theatre Royal, Auditions will take place at the Theatre in September 2013 – audition date to be confirmed.
To perform in this production, a nominal participation fee of £25 will be required after successfully auditioning.

The Amateur performing rights for the full version of Grease the Musical have not been released for at least 20 years. The production will boast full live orchestration, a large set and authentic costumes. Grease the Musical is certain to be very popular with the general public and played to packed houses.

CAODS Members or prospective CAODS Members,

This is a fine time to be a member of CAODS. We have just had an amazing year! Back in June 2012, “Our Essential Musicals” was held as a one day tester project at the Theatre Royal. This was the first step in developing our new working relationship with everyone at the Theatre. It was incredibly well received and a joy to be involved in. Add to this, the fact that we have just concluded an incredibly successful run of “The Sound of Music”, which has received such high critical acclaim.

Obviously, we are very keen to continue to build on this momentum, our main production for 2013 will be “Singin’ In The Rain” (28 October – 09 November). This is a very exciting prospect indeed, though we realise it will involve a lot of hard work on the part of cast, crew and production team to make it successful. However, we have no doubt that between us we will create another fantastic show.

As well as the main production, Ian would again like us to produce a summer variety show. As “Our Essential Musicals” was such a success, this time he has given us a three night slot!
The show for 2013 will be entitled
“Step Into Hollywood ”
and will be held at Lincoln Theatre Royal on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th July (2.30pm & 7.30pm, and Sunday matinee at 4.00pm).
Friday 5th July has been allocated for Dress/Tech rehearsals.

We really hope that many of you will want to be involved in this production, as it promises to be a lot of fun, and gives many more individuals their opportunity to shine (which is not always possible in big shows with limited cast requirements).

Auditions for this show will be held on Sunday 20^th January 2013 10.00am – 2.00pm at St. John’s Hall, Lincoln

Current members do not need to audition for chorus involvement in this show, however for the purpose of planning we would appreciate it if you could let us know as soon as possible if you would like to be part of the company.
